The domestic stock market closed in the red for the second consecutive week, while government bonds contributed to a slight recovery in turnover. The total turnover on the market amounted to RSD 512.0m (EUR 4.4m), while the Belex15 index weakened by 0.2% to 1,201.5 points.
The most active stock was Messer Tehnogas (TGAS), which recorded a turnover of RSD 4.5m, with an increase of 0.4% to RSD 35,238. Shares in the company have been traded for a considerable period at levels of around RSD 35,000, in anticipation of a new step by the majority owner, who has twice attempted unsuccessfully to consolidate ownership.
Additionally, shares in insurer Dunav Osiguranje (DNOS) remained at RSD 1,550, with a turnover of RSD 2.3m. The company is expected to announce H1 numbers imminently, which could provide a much-needed boost to trading that has seen a decline in recent weeks.
Turning to other index basket stocks, the remaining stocks have shown significantly lower activity. Metalac (MTLC) saw a 2.3% decline to RSD 2,100, while the shares of Belgrade Airport (AERO) remained unchanged at RSD 2,200.
Last week, the US Department of Finance issued a new special licence to the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIIS), which will allow the company to continue its operational activities without interruption until September 26. Shares in the company have not been traded on the Belgrade Stock Exchange since January, and there is no public information regarding the end of the trading suspension.
