Belgrade Airport registered its third busiest year on record in 2022 by handling 5.61m passengers.
The figure represents an increase of 70.8% on the year before but is down 8.9% on the pre-pandemic 2019.
The airport’s recovery rate during 2022 is above the European industry average and outperformed the airport’s earlier estimates it would handle some five million travellers during the year.
Growth at Belgrade Airport accelerated rapidly in Q4
The number of commercial aircraft movements stood at 65.644 during the year.
“Traffic growth at Belgrade Airport in Serbia accelerated rapidly in the fourth quarter – peaking at a 13% increase in December – thanks to flights offered by Air Serbia, Wizz Air and Turkish Airlines”, operator VINCI said in a statement.
