Serbia’s consumer prices rose by 16.2% in March, compared to the previous year, after increasing by an annual 16.1% the month before, the statistical office said on Wednesday.

On a monthly comparison basis, Serbia’s consumer price index (CPI) went up by 0.9% in March, after rising by 1.4% in February, the statistical office said in a monthly inflation report.

The biggest price increases in annual terms were observed in the sector of food and non-alcoholic beverages, of 25.4%, followed by housing, water and energy (+23.1%) and restaurant and hotel services (+22.5%).

On a monthly comparison basis, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 1.8% in March. Prices of furnishings, household equipment and maintenance rose by 1.4%, healthcare services prices and restaurant and hotel services increased by 1.2% respectively.
